Twelve finalists presented on the main stage at the Innovation Showcase at Synapse Summit 2024 on Wednesday, February 28th. The state-wide finalists were hand-selected by a panel of judges of CEOs, innovation leaders, and investors from across the state.

“The 4th annual Synapse Innovation Awards celebrate Florida’s innovators, risk-takers, doers, and creators for daring to see an opportunity to make something better and to do it,” said Lauren Prager, CEO of Synapse. “The innovation award showcase gives visibility to companies of different industries, technologies, communities, and stages. The winners are transforming areas from healthcare to education, fintech and smart materials manufacturing. They’re truly the evidence that “Innovation Lives Here”,” she added.

The Innovation Award judges include Eric Aaronson, senior investment analyst and attorney at Mark Cuban Companies; Richard Heruska, chief operating officer at Kinnetz Family Office; Roger Hoss, chief evangelist at The Venture Mentoring Team; and Rose LeJiste, chief executive at RL Engineering and Tech Solutions.

FINALISTS BY CATEGORY:

Ecosystem Partner: An inaugural award honoring champions of Florida’s dynamic innovation ecosystem.

WINNER Danielle Mousseau, Manager of Economic Development and Director of the 35 Mules Innovation Hub at Florida Power & Light.

Community Impact: for nonprofit and for-profit organizations that have impacted their communities by implementing creative solutions or distributing resources. Initiatives recognized include education, sustainable best practices, tech solutions, or social impact outside traditional tech.

WINNER Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay whose mission is to empower young people to own their economic success, and to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to build thriving communities.

FINALIST: Ocean Rescue Alliance International

Emerging Technology: Companies were judged based on their innovation or new applications of an emerging technology.

WINNER SynMatter, a minority, woman-owned, deep tech startup whose mission is to create high value smart materials that surpass currently available products in both performance and cost.

FINALIST National Energy USA

Tech Startup: For startups that are less than two years old. Companies were judged based on their journey, problem discovery, solutions, growth, and community impact.

WINNER Expanded Existence (eXeX), uses information technology, artificial intelligence, and mixed reality to advance surgical healthcare , reducing waste, optimizing delivery, and improving health equity globally.

FINALIST WellConnector

Innovative Product: For products that are currently available, unique, and innovative. Products were judged for design, functionality, and potential impact.

WINNER Home Lending Pal / At Home Lending Pal, whose mission is to empower individuals on their journey to homeownership by leveraging technology to demystify the complexities of securing a mortgage. Their belief is that everyone deserves a straightforward and transparent experience when navigating the path to owning their dream home.

FINALIST SprainGo

Growth Stage Company: Recognizes organizations that have demonstrated exceptional growth in the past 12 months in company size, user adoption, or revenue.

WINNER DirectMail2.0 makes direct mail THE most effective marketing channel around through the integration of the latest digital marketing and AI features.
