The CDP Institute defines a Customer Data Platform “as a marketer-managed system that creates a persistent, unified customer database that is accessible to other systems." The CDPs in this category were purpose-built to be unified customer databases, and have features that add prediction and recommendation tools that allow marketers uncover insights in customer behavior and serve up more targeted content to customers.
